The early 2000s marked an important period of growth for Emirates SkyCargo. In May 2003, the company received a Boeing 747-400F freighter, increasing its dedicated cargo fleet to three aircraft. The fleet included two Boeing 747-400F aircraft with a capacity of approximately 120 tonnes each and one Boeing 747-200F capable of carrying around 110 tonnes.

Further network expansion followed in September 2004, when dedicated freighter services were introduced to Johannesburg and Lahore. These developments strengthened the company’s presence in important markets across Africa and South Asia.

In November 2005, Emirates announced an order for eight Boeing 777 freighters at the Dubai Airshow, with initial deliveries planned from 2007. This investment reflected a long-term strategy focused on expanding cargo capacity, improving operational flexibility, and supporting increasing international freight demand.

Emirates SkyCargo has received recognition for its contribution to the international air freight sector. Its first award came in 1989, followed by numerous industry honours over subsequent decades.
